Florist & Nursery-Here We Grow Again!
Originally established as
a market garden in 1923 by Frank and Hazel Reeves, Reeves Florist & Nursery has continually transformed itself
to meet the needs of its growing customer base. From growing cucumbers
and tomatoes under glass prior to W.W. II, to the building of permanent
greenhouses for the production of ornamental flowers and plants,
the small plot on the corner of Islington and Steeles Avenues in
Toronto began to quickly outgrow the needs of the company and the
expanding market it was supplying. Thus, after over 45 years in
one location, in 1969 the Reeves family moved to a larger, more flexible
location on Islington Avenue in Woodbridge-where transformations
have continued unabated for the next 4 decades.
Today, after over eighty years in
the green business, the Reeves family still owns and operates the
location on 8700 Islington Avenue-a complete retail garden centre/
florist/ gift shop acknowledged as one of the largest and most successful
centres in the G.T.A. Even following the advent of "big box" stores
in the area, Reeves has continued to draw customers from all over
Toronto and the surrounding areas with its reputation for quality,
selection and knowledgeable, friendly staff. Yet expansion looms
once again. Going into its 87th spring, Reeves has yet more
innovations to reveal.
Reeves now boasts a highly acclaimed landscape design division, complete with planting and landscape construction crews. We are continuously renovating
large portions of our greenhouses and nursery yards to bring our clients ever more varied and unique products for their homes and gardens. With the newest block of subdivisions in the area now
inhabited, Reeves is approaching one of its busiest years yet. We
already have many knowledgeable members on staff, led by the dynamic
team of John, Bob and Mary Jane (now Mutolo) Reeves: and we are
forging ahead into an exciting and ever-changing new Millennium.
Throughout nine decades,
Reeves Florist & Nursery has been, and will continue to be,
a leader in the garden centre arena-and we invite and welcome customers
from all over the GTA to visit us, and be inspired to create their
own indoor or outdoor garden oasis! |
