The Reeves Family and staff would like to acknowledge the passing of our former president and leader. Ken Reeves died peacefully attended by family on Monday August 24th 2009 of complications related to his battle with cancer. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Lorraine and by his 4 children John (Grace), Terry (Lisa), Bob (Lisa) , Mary Jane (Peter)and his 7 Grandchildren: JD, Giorgia, Adam, Owen, Jaimie, Christie and PJ.
Ken, who was usually called “The Chief” by those who worked with and for him, was the inspirational leader of our company for many years. Our company was founded by Ken’s father Frank Owen Reeves and his mother Hazel Pearl Reeves (nee Delworth) on the occasion of Ken’s birth in 1923. Ken assumed the reigns of our company in 1953 at the untimely passing of his father Frank – Ken was just 29 years old at the time. Today Reeves Florist and Nursery is owned and operated by 3 of Ken’s children: John, Bob and Mary Jane. The Chief will be missed by us all.
Ken (himself an RCAF Pilot trainer in WW2) is pictured (above) visiting the gravesite of one of his uncles (Thomas D. Reeves) at the Canadian Military Cemetery near Vimy France in the summer of 2008. Tom (a Sapper with the Canadian Core of Engineers) was killed in action (at the age of 18) in WW1 when the trench he was working in collapsed during an enemy bombardment.
